Summer Activities You Can Count as a Workout

Summer is here and that means we’ve all got to work on our summer bodies. But hitting the gym and going for runs isn’t enjoyable for everyone, and it can be difficult to continue your healthy lifestyle without other options. Luckily, there are plenty of other options! There are several fun activities to do during the summer that most definitely count as a workout.


There’s no better way to fight the summer sun than by taking a splash in the pool. Go to the local pool, take a dive in the lake, or visit the nearest beach; whatever you have to do to get in the water. Swimming is one of the best workouts you can do because it incorporates nearly every muscle in your body. After just a couple of laps, you’ll start to feel the pounds washing away.


Who wants to go for a job when you can take a beautiful hike along a trail or through the woods? Hiking can burn a good chunk of calories, plus you can experience nature at its finest. Go alone, bring a friend, or whatever else you want to do during your trek. Just be sure to bring some water and a comfy pair of shoes, otherwise, you might start to develop blisters or bunions and you’ll need to contact to get it taken care of.


Got a need for speed? Riding your bike is a great way to get your cardio in. Cycling along paths, through the streets, or taking leisurely trips to town can do wonders for your leg strength and help build your endurance. You don’t have to have something fancy to ride, any old bike will get the job done.


If you like the water but don’t necessarily want to get soaking wet, kayaking might be the perfect way for you to get your workout in for the day. This activity takes a lot of arm strength and depending on the waters, this can either be a calm and peaceful adventure or a fight for your life. But whichever you prefer, both are great fun.

Playing Sports

If you’re a sports fan, just getting outside to throw the ball around can be an excellent way to work up a sweat. Gather some friends for a quick game of football, ultimate frisbee, basketball, soccer, or any other sport that tickles your fancy. Just take things easy and keep your competitiveness in check.

Fun in the Sun
